Property Valuation Notices In The Mail

Doña Ana County Assessor Andy Segovia will mail 2015 property-valuation notices on April 1, which will include information used to calculate tax bills in November.

In all, about 110,000 notices will be mailed out.  The official mailing date for 2015 is April 1, and the 2015 deadline to file a protest or to claim one or more exemptions is April 30. Emergency Readiness, Communications Test Held Tuesday

Several law enforcement agencies and first responders had a full-scale exercise designed to test readiness and communications in the event of a widespread disaster – a simulated emergency near the U.S./Mexico border that causes a mass migration of about 3,000 people.

$65,000 Cost Of Census Only Part Of Difficulties Facing Proponents Of Santa Teresa Incorporation

Those proposing that Santa Teresa residents form their own city got a rude awakening Tuesday at the Dona Ana County Comission meeting in Las Cruces.

The cost of providing a census of the area the group proposing incorporation was estimated to be between $50,000 and $65,000. Additionally, the group was informed that New Mexico law requires a population density to be at least one person per acre and the county workers estimated the area would need 17,000 residents but they believe the area only ...

Sunland Park Resident Sought For Unexpired Term On Extra-Territorial Planning and Zoning Commission

The Camino Real Regional Utility Authority (CRRUA) is seeking applications from residents within the City Limits of Sunland Park to fill an unexpired term on the Extra-Territorial Planning and Zoning Commission (ETZ P&Z).

The ETZ P&Z consists of a five-member board of volunteers, two of whom must reside within the City of Sunland Park, two of whom must reside within the ETZ area, and one who resides outside of those two areas.

County Commissioners To Set Fee For City Of Santa Teresa Petitioners Tuesday

The Dona Ana County Commissioners Meeting Tuesday will set the fee that the petitioners to incorporate a new City of Santa Teresa must pay to fund a census.

The Provisional Government Of Santa Teresa (PGOST) recently filed a petition with the county to create a new city and the census is one of the early steps the county must take in order to move the process along.
