Dona Ana County commissioners postponed discussing the proposed incorporation of a new City of Santa Teresa Tuesday, much to the disappoinmentt of several Santa Teresa residents who traveled to Las Cruces for the meeting.

The commissioners noted that they had hoped to have quotes on the costs of a required census of residents in the area for the city proposed by the petitioners, the Provisional Government of Santa Teresa (PGOST), but were unable to obtain the quotes for the census in time for their meeting.

The commissoners were to have set the amount the petitioners would have to deposit with the county for the census, the next step in the long and involved process to create a new New Mexico city.

The commissioners hope to add the item to their next meeting agenda.
